Police appeal for witnesses after attempted theft from Basingstoke shop
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information after £600 worth of dresses were de-tagged at a ladies fashion shop in Festival Place on Saturday, March 1.

At around 1.35pm the dresses were de-tagged by two men using a professional device. When challenged by staff they left the shop empty handed. Police have released a CCTV image of one of the men they would like to trace. The first man is described as: White Chubby build 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall Short brown and grey hair Wearing a black jacket The second man is described as: White Slim build 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall Aged around 50 years old Wearing a green jacket PC Brent Williams, of Basingstoke police station, said: “This was an unusual incident and one we are taking seriously. “We would like to hear from anyone recognises the man in the CCTV image or the descriptions of the men.” Anyone with information about the incident should contact PC Williams at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
