Detectives appeal for witnesses following Basingstoke burglary
Detectives in Basingstoke are appealing for information after two men burgled a home in Falkland Court, Basingstoke on Thursday, March 13. At around 12.30pm the two men walked into the home of an 85-year-old man and started turning on the taps in the kitchen. One of the men then took the elderly man’s wallet out of his pocket and removed cash from it, the other man carried out a search of the flat and stole more cash from a chest of drawers. The first man is described as: White Late 20s About 6ft tall Wearing a suit The second man is described as: White Late 20s Shorter than the first man Wearing blue jeans Detective Constable Tim Chappell, of Basingstoke police station, said: “This was a despicable crime that targeted an elderly man who was unable to defend himself. “We are taking the incident very seriously and would urge anyone who saw two men matching the descriptions in the area at the time to contact police as soon as possible.” Anyone with information about the incident should contact Det Con Chappell at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
