Police appeal for information following mobile phone snatch in Basingstoke
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information after a mobile phone was snatched from a 22-year-old man in Gresley Road on Saturday, December 8.

The man was using his mobile phone to send a text message as he walked home from town between 1am and 2am.

He was approached by another man who grabbed his Sony Ericsson K810i phone and ran off.

PC Lindsey Spencer, of Whitchurch police station, said: “We are hoping that, despite the early time of this incident, someone may have seen a man matching the description in the area acting suspiciously.

“We urge anyone with information to contact the police as soon as possible.”

The man is described as:

  • 6ft 2ins
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing a black hooded top with the hood up and black track suit bottoms

Police are appealing to anyone who has information about the incident to contact PC Spencer at Whitchurch police station on 0845 045 45 45, alternatively call the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
