Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information and witnesses following three racially motivated incidents at a Popley address.
During the evening of Friday, October 5, a garden wall was damaged at an address in Montserrat Road. Later that same evening, the 46-year-old male occupier was racially abused outside his address by a white boy, aged around 16. A second act of criminal damage was committed at some point over the weekend when the garden wall was totally demolished. The owner believes the criminal damage to have been racially motivated. Pc Tracy West, from Basingstoke police station, said: “These crimes appear to be racially motivated and have disrupted the life of a family who have lived in Basingstoke for seven years. “They have done nothing to warrant this outrageous behaviour and the police will not tolerate this. “I would urge anyone with any information to contact police.” Anyone with any information should contact PC West at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
