Dear Residents,
Remember Remember the fifth of November, Yes it is that time of year again I love this particular holiday not just because in co-incides with my Birthday. I love the fire works and the fancy dress and YES also the candy!!. This Holiday in particular does seem to bring out a certain element of mischievousness in some people who take that holiday spirit a little too far and risk ruining it for everyone else. I am determined that this will not happen this year. Police will be increasing the number of patrols in the area and over the holiday season and my beat team and I will be working late shifts every night for the two week period. Mainly so we can enjoy the free fireworks and hopfully share some Candy from those of you out Trick or Treating as we cycle past and on a serious note we would like you all to feel reassured when you go out trick or treating that we will be there along side with you. Not collecting candy but rounding up those persons behaving in an antisocial manner or seeking to spoil the holiday for others.
Some tips for this time of year with the clocks going back this month there can be an associated increase in the number of reports of anti social behaviour and criminal damage particulalry around the Halloween evening.
As I have already mentioned Police will be increasing the number of patrols that are completed over this period, but there are some precautions that you can take yourselves, if you are going out or not expected home until after dark then consider leaving lights on or if possible invest in lighting timers. If you have children do you know where they are.
In some areas youths are being stopped in possession of alcohol, as parents please ensure that you know where your children are. The police team will be looking to engage with young persons around this time and if they are found in possession of alcohol then it will be seized and disposed of, also if they are acting in an anti social manner then either myself or PCSO Bolland will be calling and speaking to parents.
This time of year is time for fun so whilst you are out trick or treating please don't be afraid to come and speak to your team.
Your beat team
PC Loraine Stockham and PCSO Rob Bolland
