Police appeal for witnesses to collision on A30
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision on the A30 on Saturday, August 25.

Around 10.20am, a collision occurred between two vehicles on the A30 towards Hook.

A blue or purple coloured Ford Fiesta overtook a green Ford Fiesta and pulled back into the carriageway, breaking suddenly.

The driver of the green Fiesta was then in collision with the other car, which caused the green Fiesta to cross the central reservation and end up on the other side of the carriageway, facing oncoming traffic.

The 19-year-old female driver and her 20-year-old male passenger were uninjured.

Officers are now trying to trace the driver of the other vehicle, who is described as:

  • White
  • Around 40 years old
  • Medium build
  • White/grey short hair and a goatee beard
  • Wearing a white or beige top

PC Claire Ingleby, from Basingstoke police station, said: “Fortunately no-one was injured but this could have been a potentially fatal road traffic incident had the green Fiesta collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

“I would urge anyone who was driving along the A30 on Saturday morning and saw what happened to contact police.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Ingleby at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
