Officers in Basingstoke are appealing for information following a robbery in Chineham on Saturday, July 14.
At around 10pm a man and a woman, both aged 23, were walking along a path through a wooded area which runs from Simons Road, Chineham. They were walking in the direction of Reading Road and were half way along the path when they were approached by two youths.
As the youths walked passed, one of them tried to take the woman’s handbag.
The woman held on to her bag and was then assaulted by one of the youths. The man tried to defend her and was then assaulted by both of the youths.
The offenders made off with the victims handbag which contained £80 in cash, bank cards and other items.
The woman received a black eye and a bruised knee. The man received a cut lip and scratches to his leg.
Officers have descriptions of the youths they would like to speak to:
The first man is described as:

- Aged in his late teens
- About 6ft
- Slim build
- Wearing a blue hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and black trainers
The second man is described as:

- In his early 20s
- Around 5ft 8ins
- Medium build
- Dark hair
- Wearing a black hooded top with a grey motif on the front, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers
PC Karen Binney said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a young couple which has left them both shocked and injured.
“I would urge members of the public to be vigilant and to always take care when walking at night.
“Anyone with any information about this incident should get in contact with the police at the earliest opportunity and help us find the people responsible.”
