Blasting off at summer play schemes |
This summer children attending the Play Council’s open access play schemes will have the chance to get creative at special craft workshops funded by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Kingfisher Housing Association.
The sessions, which will be run by arts company Ballyhoo, will explore the theme of space and galaxies. Children and their carers will have the opportunity to make stars, rockets and even a giant astronaut.
The craft workshops will take place at selected play schemes from Monday 23 July to Friday 3 August. The workshops will support the Balloons over Basingstoke weekend and objects created will be carried at the Night Glow Procession on Friday 3 August.
Cabinet Member for Sport and Leisure Cllr Keith Chapman said: “It is important that young people in the borough have the opportunity to try a wide range of fun and beneficial activities during school holidays. I’m sure these workshops will prove to be very popular with children.”
