Officers from the North and East OCU public reassurance team have officially closed a house in Quilter Road, Basingstoke after a Crack House Closure Order was granted by magistrates under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 on Wednesday, July 4.
The order means that no-one can use the property for three months and during this time, it is a criminal offence for anyone to enter the house unless authorised by police. Basingstoke Safer Neighbourhoods Inspector, Clive Marsh, said: “Drug-related anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated by the police and the local community. “Hampshire Constabulary is committed to making neighbourhoods safer and more pleasant places to live. The supply of drugs affects the quality of life for everyone, particularly those living close by to where the activity takes place. “If you witness any drug-related anti-social behaviour, please contact your local Safer Neighbourhoods team in confidence on 0845 045 45 45.” Kingfisher Housing Association Managing Director, Carol Williams, said: “Today we have seen the benefit of excellent partnership working between Kingfisher and the police in dealing with drugs and anti-social behaviour to improve the lives of all residents in the area. “Kingfisher takes incidents of drug taking and anti-social behaviour very seriously and we will keep working with the police, courts and other agencies to get such positive results as this closure order.”
