Police appeal following criminal damage in Winklebury
Police are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage in Winklebury.

At some time during the evening of Friday, June 22 and the early hours of Saturday, June 23 offenders gained access to the recently refurbished ball court on the playing fields at Winklebury Way, Winklebury.

Once inside, the offenders sprayed graffiti onto the boards around the edge of the court.

PC Ian Castle said: “The ball courts next to the Winklebury playing fields have recently been refurbished at considerable cost.

“There is a new high tech playing surface and all the boards around the court have been replaced, prepared and painted green to match the surroundings. Unfortunately these boards have now been damaged.

The refurbishment of the courts has been achieved through significant investment by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as part of the partnership with Hampshire Football Association to develop the new Winklebury Football Complex.

“As a result of this criminal damage the area now looks run down and the project has been spoilt.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident.  Once the offenders are located they will be dealt with robustly.”

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact PC Castle at Old Basing police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
