Witnesses sought to Basingstoke vehicle crime
Police in Basingstoke are appealing for information and witnesses after a vehicle was broken into while parked at Chineham Shopping Centre on Tuesday, May 29.

Around 2.30pm, the Vauxhall Astra was left locked and secure in the car park. The owner returned to his vehicle a few minutes later to find the window smashed and his laptop and satellite navigation system stolen.

Investigating officer, PC Drew Wright, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the vehicle being broken into, or knows the whereabouts of the property stolen, and would urge them to contact police.

“I’d also like to remind people not to leave any property in their vehicles for any period of time. For car criminals, satellite navigation systems and laptops are easy pickings. They are highly desirable and thieves can often sell them on quickly.

“Our message is clear. Don’t ever leave any valuables anywhere in your car.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Wright at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
