Appeal for information following break in at Overton church

Officers are appealing for information following a burglary at St Marys Church, Overton, on Friday, April 27.

Between 8.45am and 8.50pm the offenders entered the church by forcing a window.  Once inside they broke the lock to the inner vestry and gained entry to the room.  They then carried out a search but fortunately, it appears nothing was taken.

PC Richard Holland said: “This is an extremely disturbing incident due to the fact that the targeted premises was a church.

“The offenders have broken into the church and made a search before leaving empty handed.  The motive for this break isn’t clear at present.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious on the area or anyone who has any information that may help our investigation to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact PC Holland at Tadley police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
