Police are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage in Basingstoke on Thursday, April 12.

At around 7.50pm a couple and their young child were at home at an address on Kennilworth Road, Winklebury, Basingstoke, when the kitchen window was smashed.

A small stone was recovered and officers believe that it was used in a tool such as a catapult.

Acting Sergeant Claire Villalard said: “A two-year-old child was sitting below the window when the incident occurred as he was playing hide and seek with his family.  Fortunately he was not injured but was left very shaken by the incident.

“There were a group of youths in the road at the time of time incident.  I would appeal to these people to come forward and speak to the police as they may have vital information that could help us find the person responsible for this mindless case of criminal damage.”

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact Acting Sgt Villalard at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
