Detectives appeal after man is assaulted outside pub in Basingstoke
Detectives are appealing for information after a 30-year-old man was assaulted in Winklebury, Basingstoke, on Friday, March 23.

At around 6pm the victim was walking towards The Winkle public house, Winklebury Way, Winklebury, Basingstoke, when he was assaulted by a man armed with a glass bottle.

The victim sustained a broken ankle and swelling and bruising to his eye and head.  He was taken to the North Hampshire Hospital for an operation on his ankle and is still receiving treatment.

Detective Constable Kerrie Harman said: “We would like to reassure the community that this is was an isolated incident which we are treating with the utmost seriousness.  Always be vigilant and report any suspicious or violent behaviour. 

“I am appealing for anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch.”

A 26-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on bail.
