Police in Whitchurch have found two baby alpacas that were stolen from a Tunwroth farm sometime between 3.30pm on Wednesday, January 10 and 7.30am on Thursday, January 11. Officers attended the farm in Guildford Road, Pirbright, Surrey, at 10am this morning and recovered the animals. They have been identified as the alpaca which were stolen from the Tunworth farm in January and are being returned with their owners.
PC Andy Reid said: “We are extremely pleased that we have found these animals safe and well and are able to return them to their owner. “The man who had the alpaca had bought them in what appears to be good faith and at this time there are no legal proceedings being bought against him. The animals were handed over with good will and he is helping us with our enquiries. “It would have taken more than one person to steal these animals, and those responsible would have needed some sort of transit type vehicle to move them from the farm. I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about the theft of these animals to call the police immediately. PC Lee Coleshill, a Force Wildlife Liaison Officers, said: “The alpaca are now being returned to their owners and will be reunited with their mother. “Although the animals have been found unharmed, we are still determined to find those responsible for their theft and ensure they are dealt with robustly.” Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact PC Reid at Whitchurch police station on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
