Smart Fundraising for School
Basingstoke and Deane Borough's Mayor Cllr Tony Jones has been able to present £4421.53 to Saxon Wood School, one of his chosen charities for 2006/2007, to purchase a SMART board well in advance of the end of his Mayoral year. Following some very successful fundraising events, including the Mayor's annual Firework Fiesta, the Mayor's Charity Appeal is going so well that the school is able to benefit from their purchase sooner than had been anticipated.

The Mayor will also be presenting a cheque soon to Limington House School to buy a camcorder and to Hospital Radio for a new radio console. The refurbishment of the Salvation Army Community Hall in Wessex Close will be starting soon and the Mayor will also be supporting this with funds from his appeal.

Cllr Tony Jones said: "I am delighted to be able to hand over these funds to Saxon Wood School before the end of my Mayoral year so that the young people can start to benefit now from this excellent piece of technology".
