Are you recycling as much as you can? That’s the question from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as it launches its big bin exchange this week.
Residents in the rural areas started using their new 240ltr recycling bins back in October 2006 and with a big bin they are making a big difference to recycling.
The council is now encouraging anyone across the borough who still has a small green bin to call and get it exchanged for a big bin for free.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Services Cllr Elaine Still said: “We’ve seen the difference introducing big bins to the rural areas has made to our recycling targets. Now it’s time for everyone who still has a small bin to get it changed for a big one and recycle more.
“Is your green recycling bin too small for all your paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, tins and cans? Does this mean you end up putting recyclable items in your rubbish bin when your recycling bin is full? Could you recycle more? If your answer is yes call the council’s contact centre and get a big bin exchange.”
Call the council on 01256 844844 to arrange for your small recycling bin to be exchanged for a big one, or visit http://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/greenbin
