Government pledges £5 million to back borough’s prosperity plans
Plans to keep Basingstoke buoyant have been given a big boost with the announcement of £5 million in government funding to help solve the borough's infrastructure issues and support major projects to improve the town centre and its commercial heart.
‘Who's taking you home?' warning to Christmas revellers
Party-goers celebrating during the festive season are being urged to check who’s driving them home in a warning from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
The council’s Licensing Team is advising Christmas revellers to ensure vehicles taking them to and from their nights out are licensed by the council. The warning comes as the council wants to make people aware of the dangers of illegal, unlicensed vehicles and people posing as taxi drivers and private hire drivers.
Making sure residents feel safe in Basingstoke and Deane continues to be a key priority for the borough’s Cabinet.
Although a report reviewing the council’s community safety and development work was not discussed at December’s Cabinet meeting, there is still a commitment from the Cabinet to look at new ways of delivering this service.
This summer children attending the Play Council’s open access play schemes will have the chance to get creative at special craft workshops funded by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Kingfisher Housing Association.
Partners ‘time travel’ to plan for the future at conference
Planning for the future now was the theme as Basingstoke and Deane’s Local Strategic Partnership mappeds how the borough needs to change and develop over the next 20 years.
