Fairfields is pleased to organise the first event of its kind in the UK - 'The First UK International Manga Art Show'. Manga and Japanese comics or cartoon drawings are made for and are read by all ages, business men, housewives, etc, and cover all literary genres. However, the word comic is too limiting a word, indeed the word Manga originally meant 'whimsical pictures' - and the terms graphic novel or the French terms 'bande-dessinee' might be more appropriate for some of the work, particularly the work in this exhibition, which looks at manga as art, not just as a 'cartoon'.
