Community Group Details

Basingstoke and District Railway Society

We meet in the Wote Street Social Club on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month starting at 20.00.

Meetings last about 2 hours with a refreshment break at half time. Talks are usually illustrated and cover a wide range of topics to do with railways old and new, at home and abroad.

Subjects covered in recent talks have included the railways of New Zealand, the Basingstoke resignalling project, railway regulation, railways of Budapest and visits around the world made by our members.

We hold two quizes a year, one with other societies and we also have an annual photographic competition at which our members can display thier best prints and slides.
