‘Who's taking you home?' warning to Christmas revellers
Party-goers celebrating during the festive season are being urged to check who’s driving them home in a warning from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

The council’s Licensing Team is advising Christmas revellers to ensure vehicles taking them to and from their nights out are licensed by the council. The warning comes as the council wants to make people aware of the dangers of illegal, unlicensed vehicles and people posing as taxi drivers and private hire drivers.
 
Don’t make Christmas a load of old rubbish!
Don’t be a scrooge with your recycling this Christmas - that’s the message from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council as residents prepare for the festive season.

Christmas is a time of celebration and with that comes food, presents and all the extras that make the festive period special. The council wants to remind everyone that they can still do their bit to recycle more and waste less at Christmas.
 
Borough’s leading light announced!
Overton, Laverstoke and Steventon has been crowned the borough’s leading light in Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s energy-saving light bulb competition.

Green-minded residents snapped up over a sixth of 3,000 free light bulb packs on offer to notch up an impressive total of 559. They were closely followed by Whitchurch and Kempshott who recorded 381 and 298 bulbs respectively
