PC Lucy Fawcett, of Basingstoke police station, said: “We are asking members of the public to help us identify the person responsible for this incident.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area at the time we would urge them to contact police as soon as possible.”
Hampshire Constabulary offers the following Safer Streets advice:
P – Prepare. Know how you are getting home, pre-book a taxi and let someone know where you’re going. Make sure you have enough credit on your mobile phone for emergencies.
L – Look confident. Someone clearly under the influence of alcohol looks more vulnerable.
A – Act to avoid risk. Think twice before accepting drinks from someone you don’t know well and never accept lifts from cruising cars or cabs.
N – Never assume it will never happen to you. Trust your instincts; they are there to warn you of danger.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact PC Fawcett at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
