Police officers in the North and East OCU have issued a warning about a supply of suspected heroin which may be dangerous.
The warning comes after three people, who are believed to have taken the drug, were admitted to Basingstoke’s North Hampshire Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers believe that the heroin concerned is a darker colour than normal and turns a ‘blood colour’ when cooked up.
PC Jonathan Swift, of the Basingstoke Priority Crime Unit, said: “It is important that people are aware of the consequences of taking these controlled substances. There is a high risk of overdose or even death.
“We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the potential dangers of drug use and would urge anyone who is offered any controlled drug to seriously think twice about accepting them in light of what has happened.
“If you do take this drug and feel unwell, seek urgent medical advice.
“We would also urge anyone with information about this substance to contact police as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information about these incidents should contact PC Swift at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
