Police appeal for information after Basingstoke incident |

Police in Basingstoke are warning students to be vigilant after a man approached a girl from Queen Mary College on Wednesday, March 5.
At around 3pm the 17-year-old girl was approached by a man, on the bridge over the A30 near to Cordale Road, who walked up to her and said “hello darling”.
She shouted at him to go away and then ran to her car and drove away.
The man is described as:
Asian
In his 50s
Between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 6ins tall
Medium build
White hair
Several days beard growth
Wearing a cream or grey coloured bomber jacket with a jumper and shirt underneath, casual grey trousers and brown loafer style shoes.
PC Lee Stanbrook, of Basingstoke police station, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident or who has seen anyone matching the description in the area.
“In this instance the victim did exactly the right thing by shouting, running to her car and contacting police.
“We would urge anyone put in a similar position to contact police as soon as possible.”
