Witnesses sought following burglary in Old Basing
Officers are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in Old Basing, Basingstoke on Thursday, July 19.

At some time between 1pm and 2.25pm the offenders entered a property in Riverside Close, Old Basing, Basingstoke via a small upstairs window.

Once inside they took electrical items including a DVD player, two laptops, an Ipod Nano, digital cameras and a video camera.  They also took a quantity of cash and a large amount of jewellery.

PC Adam Leech said: “The victims of this crime are extremely upset, not only because of their financial loss, but because they have lost a number of items of jewellery which were of personal value as they were family heirlooms.

“I would like to appeal to members of the community to be vigilant as these items may be offered for sale.  Some of the items that were stolen were quite distinctive.  The Ipod Nano had a thumb print in purple paint on it and some of the jewellery was quite old.  If you are offered any items for sale that you believe could be stolen, please contact the police immediately.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident who could have seen any suspicious behaviour.

“I would like to advise residents to ensure that their house is always secure.  Make sure all doors and windows are closed and locked, set a burglar alarm before leaving the house, double lock UPVC doors, and don’t leave valuable items on display.

“Help us reduce crime in your neighbourhood by reporting any suspicious activity to the police immediately.”
Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact the Priority Crime Team at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
