Police appeal after cat is stabbed in Basingstoke
Officers are appealing for information after a cat was found stabbed in Basingstoke on Wednesday, June 13.

The incident occurred while the cat’s owners were on holiday and it was being cared for by a friend.

The wound was discovered at an address in Holst Close, Basingstoke when the friend arrived to feed the cat.

The one-year-old cat, named Posh, belongs to a family with two children.

So far Posh has received £400 worth of veterinary care which is not yet complete.

PC Kerry Lawrence said: “This was a callous act of cruelty against a defenceless animal.

“Posh is now recovering at home with his family but will still need further treatment.  He is able to walk now but is still very nervous.

“I would appeal for anyone with any information about this callous assault to come forward.  Harming animals is an offence and will always be dealt with robustly by the police and the RSPCA.”

Anyone with any information regarding this incident should contact PC Lawrence at Basingstoke police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
